“The words and prophecies of Isaiah are great,” said Jesus Christ. “I command you to read them carefully and study them. Isaiah spoke truthfully for the people of Israel and also for the Gentiles. Likewise pay attention to my commandments to you, and write the things that I have told you so that they will be known and spread by future Gentiles, according to the will of my Father. Whoever listens to my words, repents, and is baptized will be saved.
“If you review what the prophets have said, you will find many of them that verify this. There are other scriptures that you do not have, that I want you to write down. Bring me the records that you have kept.”
Nephi brought the records to Jesus Christ, who looked through them and said, “I commanded my servant, Samuel the Lamanite, to tell you certain things that aren’t mentioned here. Didn’t he say that on the day my Father glorified his name in me, that many saints would arise from death, appear to you, and minister to you? Didn’t this happen?”
“Yes Lord,” the disciples said, “Samuel did prophesy that, and it was fulfilled.”
“Then why is it not written that these saints arose and ministered to you?” asked Jesus Christ. He commanded that this be included in the record.
Jesus Christ then gave the disciples additional scriptures to record and commanded them to teach them to the people.
