Helaman 13

A Lamanite, named Samuel, came in the land of Zarahemla and began to preach to the Nephites. The people threw him out. He was going back to his own land, but the voice of the Lord told him to return and preach whatever came to his heart.

So he climbed up on the city wall, stretched his hands out and spoke with a loud voice. He said to the people: I am Samuel, a Lamanite. I speak the words which the Lord puts in my heart. The sword of justice hangs over this people. Terrible destruction will come on this people in less than four hundred years. Nothing can save this people if they do not repent and have faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Listen to the words of the Lord. He says you are cursed because of your riches. You have not obeyed Him who gave your riches to you. When a prophet comes and tells you the word of the Lord, you are angry and you try to kill him.

But if a man comes among you saying: There is no sin; do whatever you want. You gladly receive him. You lift him up and you give him gold and fancy clothes, just because he tells you pleasing words. You praise him because he says everything is fine.

Wicked people, the Lord’s anger is already growing against you. The time is coming when he will curse your riches. Then you will weep and howl all day and you will say: O, we wish we had repented. O, we wish we had remembered God. O Lord, turn away your anger from us.

But your chances will be past. You will have delayed the day of your salvation until it is too late and your destruction is certain. You have searched all the days of your lives for something you could not have; you search to be happy in sin. O you people, hear my words! Repent and be saved.
