Helaman 12

We see how unsteady are the hearts of people. At the time when God blesses his people with flocks and herds, with gold, silver and all things, when he spares their lives and rescues them from their enemies and when he does all things for their happiness, the people harden their hearts and forget God. They trample the Holy One, because of their easy living and great riches.

Unless the Lord gives His people many hardships, unless He visits them with death and with terror and with hunger and thirst, they will not remember Him.

People are foolish, evil, quick to sin and slow to do right. People are quick to put their hearts on the empty things of the world! They are quick to be proud, quick to boast and slow to remember their God. They do not want to be ruled by their God. Blessed are they who will repent and listen to the voice of God.
