After Pahoran died, his sons began to argue about who should be the next governor. Their names were Pahoran, Paanchi and Pacumeni. Pahoran, son of Pahoran, was elected governor over the Nephites. Paanchi and his followers were angry.
They sent Kishkumen in disguise to murder Pahoran as he sat on the governor seat. Pahoran’s servants chased Kishkumen, but he was so speedy no one could catch him.
Kishkumen ran back to those who sent him. He made them promise that they would not tell anyone he was the killer. Kishkumen and his group then mixed in with the crowds so they could not be found. Pacumeni was then elected to be governor.
In the forty-first year, the Lamanites had an uncountable army of warriors. They were covered with body armor. Their leader was a large man named Coriantumr. He had once been a Nephite.
The Nephite armies were in the borders of the land. There were not many guards in Zarahemla, because they thought the Lamanites would not dare attack the great city Zarahemla.
Coriantumr marched to Zarahemla with great speed and killed the guards. He brought his army into the city. Pacumeni, the chief judge, ran and was chased and killed by Coriantumr.
Coriantumr then marched to conquer the city of Bountiful. But his march through the center of the land gave Moronihah a chance to bring in his armies. He gave the Lamanites a bloody battle. Coriantumr was killed and the Lamanites surrendered.
