Alma 37

My son Helaman, I command you to take the records. Keep a history of this people, as I have done, on the plates of Nephi. Keep all these things sacred. You may think this is foolishness, but great things are brought to pass by small and simple means.

Teach the people to repent and have faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Teach them to be humble, meek and lowly in heart. Teach them to never get tired of doing good.

Pray to the Lord in all you do. He will guide you. When you lie down at night, pray to the Lord to watch over you in sleep. When your rise in the morning, let your heart be full of thanks to God. If you do these things, you will be lifted up at the last day.

Now, I have something to say about the special ball-shaped compass our fathers called a Liahona. The Lord made it to show father Lehi the way to the Promised Land.

The Liahona worked for them by faith in God. Just as this compass led our fathers to the Promised Land, the words of Christ will lead you to eternal life.

Do not let the easiness of the way lead you to be lazy. Take care of these sacred things. Go to this people and teach God’s word. Be serious. My son, farewell.
