When the Amalekites saw the Lamanites would not fight, the Amalekites became angry. They began to kill the peaceful people of Anti-Nephi-Lehi.
When Ammon saw the killing among those he so dearly loved, he prayed to God for help. The Lord said: Satan has great hold on the Amalekites. Take the Anti-Nephi-Lehites out of this land.
The people gathered and went to the borders of the Zarahemla. Ammon told the people to stay until he returned. He went to ask permission to bring the people into Zarahemla.
On his way, Ammon met Alma. Ammon’s joy was so great that he fainted. This is a joy given only to the truly repentant, humble seeker of happiness.
Alma led the people of Anti-Nephi-Lehi into Zarahemla. They offered to give them part of their land and protect them from the Amalekites. From that time on, the Anti-Nephi-Lehites became part of the Nephites.
They were known for their love of God and all people. They were perfectly honest. They were firm in their faith in Christ. They would suffer death in the most terrible ways, but they would not fight. They met death without fear.
