Alma 26

Ammon said: My brothers, we have great reason to be happy. When we started, we could not imagine God would give us such great blessings. God made us into his tools to bring thousands of Lamanites into his flock.

Blessed be the name of God. Let us sing to his praise. If we had not come, our Lamanite brothers would still be strangers to God and be full of hatred to us. Now they love him and us.

When Ammon said these words, his brother Aaron scolded him, saying: Ammon, you are bragging. Ammon said: I do not brag on my own strength or my own wisdom.

My joy is full. My heart overflows with joy in my God. I know I am weak. I do not brag about myself; I boast of God. By his strength, I can do all things.

We have done many mighty miracles by his name. Can anyone glory too much in the Lord? Who can say too much about God’s great power, mercy and long-suffering? I cannot say the smallest part of what I feel.

Can any natural man know these things? No, only people who repent can know them. Only people who repent and have faith and good works and always pray can know the mysteries of God.

Remember when we told our people in Zarahemla that we were going to the Lamanites? They laughed at us and made fun of us. They said to us: Do you think you can bring Lamanites to the truth? They are a stubborn, evil people. We should kill them before they kill us.

When our hearts were sad and we were about to turn back, the Lord comforted us: Go to your brothers, the Lamanites. Be patient in hardship. I will give you success.

So we trusted in God and went house to house. We taught the people in their homes, in their streets, on their hills and in their churches.

We were thrown out, insulted, spit on and hit in our faces. We have been stoned, tied up and put in prison. We have suffered all kinds of pain and just so we might be able to save one soul.

We thought our joy would be full if we could save a few people. I ask you: Were there only a few? No, they were many. The Lamanites treat us like we were God’s angels sent to save them.

If this is bragging, then I brag. This is my life and my light and my salvation. This is my joy and my great thanksgiving. I will give thanks to God forever. Amen.
