The Lamanites who were not converted blamed their murders on the Nephites. They left the Anti-Nephi-Lehites and took their armies to battle the Nephites. The Nephites pushed the Lamanites into the wilderness.
While the Lamanites were in the wilderness, many of them realized God was giving power to the Nephites. Many Lamanites converted to God.
Some of the Lamanites were Amulonites. They were children of the priests of Noah. When the prophet Abinadi had been burned by Noah, Abinadi told the king: Whatever you do to me will happen to you and your people.
They would not believe. They killed the new believers with fire. Just as Noah’s priests burned Abinadi to death, Noah’s descendents burned many of their own people.
Abinadi also said they would be scattered and killed like wild beasts kill sheep. When the Lamanites saw the Amulonites had killed some of their own people, they killed many Amulonites and chased the rest into the wilderness. So the words of the prophet Abinadi came true.
The Lamanites would not fight the people of Anti-Nephi-Lehi. They buried their weapons and kept God’s commandments. They hoped for salvation and looked forward to the coming of Christ.
Ammon, Aaron, Omner, Himni and their brothers were happy for the success they had with the Lamanites.
