Alma 10

Then Amulek stood and said: I am Amulek, son of Giddonah. I am a man of good reputation among all who know me. I have many relatives and friends. I have many riches from my hard work.

I did not know much about God. He called me many times, but I had hardened my heart. Even though I knew about the Lord, I did not want to know. I ignored God until the fourth day of this month.

As I was walking, an angel of the Lord came to me and said: Amulek, return to your house. You must feed a prophet of the Lord, a holy man chosen by God. He has not eaten for many days and he is hungry.

Take him into your house and feed him. He will bless you and your house; and the blessing of the Lord will rest on you and your house.

I, Amulek, obeyed the voice of the angel and returned to my house. As I was going there, I found the man whom the angel spoke about.

Alma blessed me, my wife, my children, my father and relatives. The Lord’s blessing rested on us. I know the things Alma speaks of are true. While he stayed at my house, God sent an angel to make these things clear to me.

When Amulek spoke these words, the people began to be amazed. They now saw more than one witness for God. But lawyers wanted to trick them in their words. These lawyers were educated and clever.

Amulek knew their thoughts. He said to them: You wicked lawyers and hypocrites, you are working for the devil. You are laying traps with words to catch the holy ones of God. If not for the prayers of the good people, you would already be destroyed.

Now the people were more angry. Amulek stretched out his hand and said even mightier to them: You wicked people. Why do you let Satan get such great hold on your hearts? Why will you give him power over you to blind your eyes to the truth?

The people yelled out against him. Zeezrom, one of the lawyers, accused Amulek and Alma of breaking the law.
