3 Nephi 19

After Jesus left, the people went home. Many people gathered again on the next day. The crowd was so large that the disciples divided them into twelve groups and then taught them.

They told the people to kneel down and pray to the Father in the name of Jesus. The disciples also prayed to the Father in the name of Jesus. They prayed for what they wanted mostβ€”the gift of the Holy Ghost.

After they prayed, they went down to the edge of the water. Nephi went into the water and was baptized. Then he baptized the other disciples whom Jesus had chosen. After they were baptized, they were filled with the Holy Ghost.

Angels came down to bless them. Jesus came and stood with them and blessed them. Jesus told them to kneel down and pray.

Jesus then walked a little way off from them and bowed himself to the earth and said: Father, I thank you that you have given the Holy Ghost to these disciples. I have chosen them out of the world because of their faith.

Father, I ask you to give the Holy Ghost to all who believe in their words. Help them believe in me, that I may be in them as you are in me, that we may all be one.

After He prayed to the Father, Jesus came to His disciples. They were still praying. They were filled with hope. The Holy Ghost told them what to pray for.

Jesus smiled on them and the light of His appearance shined on them. They became as bright as Jesus. Their whiteness was brighter than all whiteness. Nothing on earth was so white.

Jesus asked them to keep praying while He walked a little way off and bowed down again. He prayed: Father, I thank you for purifying my chosen disciples, because of their faith. I pray for all who believe on their words, that they may be made pure by me. Father, I do not pray for the world, but for those people you give to me out of the world, because of their faith.

Jesus then came again to His disciples. He saw they were still praying. He smiled on them again, then walked a little way off and prayed to the Father again. The people heard His prayer and their hearts were opened so they could understand. His words were so wonderful and amazing that they cannot be written or spoken by man.

Jesus came again to the disciples and said: I have never seen such great faith among all the Jews. Because of their little faith, I could not show them such great miracles. None of the Jews have seen the great things you have seen. They have not heard the great things you have heard.
