3 Nephi 13

Help the poor, but do not help them just so you can look good to others. When you help, do not blow a horn before you to get glory. When you help others, do it in secret, then your Heavenly Father will reward you openly.

When you pray, do not pray just so others can see you. Go in your house and shut the door. Pray to your Heavenly Father in secret and he will reward you openly. Do not pray the same words over and over. Your Heavenly Father knows what you need even before you ask.

Pray this way: Our Father who is in heaven, holy is thy name. Let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Forgive our debts, as we forgive our debtors. Lead us not into temptation, but rescue us from evil. For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

If you forgive men their sins, your Heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others, your Father will not forgive you.

When you fast, do not walk around with a sad face just to show you are fasting.

Do not store treasures on earth, where moth and rust will rot and robbers will steal. Store up treasures in heaven, where robbers cannot come.

Wherever your treasure is, your heart is there also. No one can serve two masters. If he loves one, he will hate the other. If he holds to one, he must let go of the other. You cannot serve both God and riches.

When Jesus spoke these words, he looked at the twelve men He had chosen and said to them: Remember these words. I have chosen you to serve this people. Do not think of your life, or about what you will eat or drink, or wear.

See the birds of the air; your Heavenly Father feeds them. You are much better than birds. If God can dress the grass in the field, he can cover you, if you have faith.

Your Heavenly Father knows what you need. If you seek first the kingdom of God and his desires, then all things will be added to you. Think not of tomorrow; tomorrow will take care of itself.
