3 Nephi 12

After Jesus spoke these words to His disciples, He stretched out His hand to the crowds and said to them: You are blessed if you follow the words of these twelve men. I have chosen them to serve you and given them power to baptize you. After you are baptized with water, I will send the Holy Ghost to baptize you with fire.

Those who have seen me are blessed if you believe in me and are baptized. Those who have not seen me and believe the words of my servants are even more blessed.

Blessed are the poor in spirit who come to me, for they will have the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who are sad, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will be given the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for goodness, for they will be filled with the Holy Ghost.

Blessed are the merciful, for they will be given mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers. They will be the children of God.

Blessed are you if people hate you or hurt you or lie about you because you believe in me, for you will have great joy in heaven.

I ask you to be the light of this people. Do people light a candle and put it under a bucket? No, but on a candlestick where it gives light to all in the house. Let your light shine so people may see your good works and glorify your Heavenly Father.

Come to me with a humble heart and a repentant spirit. If you will not keep my commandments, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.

It is written that you must not kill. I say whoever is angry with another person is in danger of God’s judgment. Settle your arguments, then come to me with full purpose of heart. I will accept you. Agree with your enemy quickly when you are in his way so he will not hurt you.

It is written that you must not flirt with another person’s husband or wife. I say do not even let bad thoughts enter your heart. It is better for you to resist than go to hell.

It is written, an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. I say you must not try revenge. If someone hits you on your right cheek, turn to him the other cheek. If any person takes away your coat, let him have your cloak also. If a person makes you walk one mile, go with him two.

Give to those who ask you and do not turn away a person who wants to borrow.

It is written that you must love your neighbor and hate your enemy. I say to you, love your enemies. Bless those who curse you. Do good to those who hate you. Pray for those who use you and hurt you.

You are all the children of your Father in Heaven. He lets his sun rise on the evil and on the good. Be perfect like me and your Heavenly Father are perfect.
