All the people heard His words. Then there was silence in the land for many hours. People were so amazed, they stopped their sad howling and crying for their lost families.
Then the voice came again to all the people, saying: O you people of these great cities which are destroyed. You are of the house of Israel. How often I tried to gather you like a hen gathers her chickens under her wings. But you would not come to me.
How often I would gather you, if you would only repent and return to me with full purpose of heart. But because you would not repent, your homes and cities were destroyed and your fathers and mothers and brothers and sisters and children were killed. After the people heard these words, they began to weep and howl because of the loss of their families and friends.
The three days of darkness ended. The earth stopped shaking; the rocks stopped breaking. The dreadful groaning stopped and all the awful noises went away.
The weeping and wailing stopped. Sadness turned to joy and praise and thanksgiving to the Lord Jesus Christ, their Savior.
The people who were alive were the more good part of the people. They had received the prophets. They had not shed the blood of the saints.
