2 Nephi 10

[Next day] Me, Jacob again. More on the “branch.” Most of our descendants will die. Get used to that thought. But not all. And some who live will know God.

This is why the Anointed One has to come to the Jews: because they’re the worst people on earth. Worst? Why? Because only the Jews would murder God. If he’d done in other countries what he’ll do in Jerusalem, they’d quit their absurdist habits. Total revival.

But, because of their backroom deals and plots, Jews at Jerusalem stiffen their necks like stubborn cattle. So they’ll murder God. And that’s why their buildings will topple. Starvation, epidemics, and, of course, murders will be de rigeur among them. The survivors will seek a roof anywhere they can find it.

God says this: When you finally believe in me, in the form of the Anointed One, I’ll let you go back to your homeland.

So they’ll come back home from every continent and country, helped in their travels by Gentiles. Thus: a shout out to the Gentiles! Kings and queens will be like expensive babysitters. That’s how extravagant God’s promises are.

And this land will be a big piece of Gentile property. A “free” land—no kings anyway. Slightly anarchic.

God says this: “I’ll fortify this land. Good luck to anyone who attacks it. And don’t even think about trying to start a monarchy here. I’m the king of this continent.

“To get this done right, I’ll have to crush the smoke-filled rooms where big deals like hit-jobs and frauds get hatched. I’ll mow down anyone who tries to get in my way. When I make promises I keep them.

“I will use the Gentiles to irritate you, and worse. But I won’t let them wipe you out. And in fact you’ll sort of team up. I’ll treat them as if they were you at your best.

“So when I say I’ve given this land to you and your seed, I’m including them. Sorry for any confusion about that. Because this land is so good I hate for anyone not to get a piece of it, though they should thank me for it.”

Me, Jacob again: With all these promises and foreknowledge, we ought to thank God ourselves and behave well. Sure, we had to leave the old country, but trust me, this one’s better. I think it’s an island, but God says good things about island dwellers. And that’s not just us. I have a suspicion we aren’t the only ones who have gotten in boats to flee from our fears. God remembers us all, if I’m reading the brass plates correctly.

So buck up, choose the right. Adjust your lives to God’s wishes, pry the devil out of your souls. And we all live by grace, don’t forget. My concept: God will raise you from death through his Great Reconciliation, which works both ways or it can’t work. Do your part. He’ll do his. What a kingdom.
