“My time is at hand,” said Jesus Christ to the Nephite crowd. “I can see that you are tired, and are having a hard time understanding everything that my Father has instructed me to tell you. So go back to your homes and think about what I’ve said. In my name, pray to my Father in heaven for understanding, and prepare your minds for my return tomorrow. I must go to my Father now. I must also go personally visit with the lost tribes of Israel. These tribes are not lost to my Father because he knows where he has taken them.”
When Jesus Christ looked around at the assembled Nephites he saw that they were in tears. They wanted him to stay longer with them.
“I am filled with compassion for you,” he declared. “If there are sick among you, bring them forward. If any of you are crippled, blind, diseased, maimed, leprous, withered, deaf, or ailing in any way come forward and I will heal you. I sense that you’d like me to show you what I have done with your relations in Jerusalem, and your faith is sufficient enough for me to heal you.”
The sick, ailing, crippled, blind, dumb, and injured Nephites were brought forward, and Jesus Christ healed every one who was brought before him. Everyone who was whole and everyone who was healed then bowed down at his feet and worshipped him. They kissed his feet and bathed them in their tears.
Jesus Christ then asked that all the little children should be brought forward. So the people brought their children and set them on the ground around him. When all the children were gathered around him Jesus Christ asked that everyone kneel down on the ground.
“My father,” he said, “I am troubled with the sinfulness of the people of Israel.”
Jesus Christ then kneeled down and prayed to his Father in heaven. The things that he said cannot be written, but those who were present made record that no eyes had ever seen, and no ears had never heard such great things as those that he spoke to his Father. What he said was so amazing that no tongue could speak it, no heart could conceive of it, and no one could ever even imagine the joy which filled their souls while he prayed to his Father. When he was finished, he arose, and the Nephite crowd was overcome. He asked them to rise up also.
“You are blessed because of your faith,” he said while crying tearfully, “and I am filled with joy.”
Jesus Christ took the children one by one, blessed them, and prayed to his Father for each of them. When he was finished, he wept again.
“Look at your children now,” he said.
The Nephites watched as the heavens opened and angels engulfed in fire descended towards them. The angels came down and encircled the children with their fire, and ministered to them individually. We know that this is true because all of the 2,500 people who saw and heard this amazing event made record of it.
