My brother Jacob said these words to our people.
“I have been called upon by God and ordained by my Brother Nephi whom you look upon as your king and protector. In the past, I’ve spoken to you of many things from the time of the world’s creation through the present time, including the recent words of my father Lehi. I speak to you today for the welfare of your souls. Nephi has asked me to read to you the words of the old prophet Isaiah regarding the destiny of the house of Israel, of which we are a part, and how it may be applied to us.
“These, then, are God’s words, as spoken to Isaiah. ‘Gentiles in the future will bring the symbol of God to the people of the world and they will then support your sons and daughters. Kings and queens will prostrate themselves before your descendants.’”
Commenting on this quotation of God by Isaiah, Jacob said, “God has shown me that the people of Jerusalem whom we left behind have been either killed or carried away as slaves to Babylon. God has also shown me that they will return to Jerusalem in the future. God has further shown me that his son Jesus Christ will manifest himself to their descendants, who will torture and crucify him. Those whose hearts are so hardened that they act like this against God will be judged, tormented, hated, and scattered. But God will be merciful, and these descendants of Israel will not be destroyed. When they come to realize that God is their redeemer, they will again be gathered together in the lands of their inheritance.
“Those future Gentiles of whom Isaiah has written, who do not oppose Zion, and who do not align themselves with the great abominable church, will be saved, because this is what God has promised us. Those who oppose Israel and who oppose the keepers of God’s promises will grovel in the dirt at their feet. The people of God are the ones who wait patiently for the coming of the Messiah. According to the words of the prophet Isaiah, the Messiah will return a second time, in power and glory, to redeem his people and destroy their enemies. When that day comes, those who believe in him will be saved. Those who do not believe in him will perish by fire, great storms, bloodshed, disease, and starvation. They will be made to know that Jesus Christ and God are one. If the people of God are oppressed or imprisoned, they will be set free.”
