2 Nephi 10

Jacob addressed the Nephites again on the following day.

“As I said, we, and our descendants, are a great branch of the people of Israel. It has been revealed to me that many of our descendants will perish eternally because of their refusal to believe in God’s word. But God will also be merciful to many others of our children, who will come to accept the knowledge of Jesus Christ. As I have said, it is necessary that Jesus Christ come in flesh to the wicked Jews of Jerusalem to be crucified, because who but they would kill their God? Any other nation on earth would recognize him as God, repent, and worship him. Because of their transgressions, destruction, hunger, disease, and bloodshed will befall them and those who are not killed will be scattered across the face of the earth. But, God has also said that when these people come to recognize Jesus Christ as God, they will be restored according to his promise to their forefathers, and given the lands of their inheritance. These scattered descendants of Israel will be gathered from all corners of the earth and the Gentile nations will have his blessing because they will help in this gathering. This is God’s word, so who can doubt its truth?

“God has said that this new land will be the land of your inheritance,” Jacob related, “and that Gentiles will also be welcomed and blessed on it. This land will be a land of liberty for the Gentiles because there will be no kings in it. God will fortify this land and those who fight against it will perish. God has said, ‘The promises I have made will be fulfilled to the people of the world and I will destroy the secret works of darkness, murders, and abominations. Any of those who fight against Zion, whether they are Jews or Gentiles, men or women, will perish because they are the whores of the earth. Any who are not for me are against me.’

“God has also said,” continued Jacob, “that he will torment our descendants at the hand of the Gentiles who will come to this land. These Gentiles will become as fathers to our descendants and be counted also among the descendants of Israel. God has promised this land to your descendants and also to the Gentiles who will be counted among your descendants, and all of those who live here who worship God. Let us then remember God’s will and lay aside our sins, because he has brought us across the sea to this promised new land. Lift your hearts and remember that you are free to act for yourselves, to choose eternal death or eternal life. It is only by reconciling yourselves with the will of God that you will be saved. By the power of resurrection, may you be raised from death and find your way to the eternal kingdom of God.”
