Mosiah 4

After King Benjamin finished speaking, he saw that the crowd had fallen to the ground. The fear of God came over them. They all cried with one voice: Have mercy. Forgive our sins. We believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

Then the Spirit of the Lord came on them and filled them with joy. King Benjamin said to them: Salvation comes to those who trust the Lord. Obey His words and hang on to the end of this life. Believe in God, believe that He is and that He created all things. Believe that He has all wisdom and all power, both in heaven and in earth. Man does not understand all that the Lord understands.

If you believe all these things, do them. If you do them, you will always be happy and be filled with the love of God. You will grow in the knowledge of God and in the knowledge of that which is just and true.

You will not want to hurt each other. You will want peace. You will not allow your children to go hungry. You will not allow them to fight and quarrel with each other. Teach them to walk in the ways of truth. Teach them to love each other and serve each other.

You will help those who need your help. You will share your things with those who are in need. You will not allow the beggar to go away empty or turn him out to die. Do not say: This person has caused his own misery, so I will not give him food.

Whoever does this has great reason to repent. Unless he repents, he will have no place in the kingdom of God. We are all beggars. We all depend on God for all we have.

You have been praying and begging for forgiveness of your sins. He has not allowed you to beg in vain. He has poured out His Spirit on you and filled your hearts with joy. Your joy was so great you could not speak.

God gives you what you need, so you should give to each other. Do all in wisdom and order. You are not asked to do more than you have strength to do. Be steady so you will win the prize.

Watch yourselves; watch your thoughts and words and deeds. Keep God’s commandments. Hang on to the end of your life and you will be happier. Remember and be happy.
