Mosiah 26

There were many of the rising generation that did not believe what had been said about the resurrection of the dead. They also did not believe in the coming of Christ. They would not be baptized or join the church.

They were not half as many as the people of God, but they did cause many others to commit sins. Those in the church who committed sin were brought to the leaders of the church. Alma was troubled in his spirit; he feared he would do the wrong thing. So he asked the Lord what he should do.

After he had poured out his whole soul to God, the voice of the Lord came to him, saying: Blessed are you, Alma. Blessed are those who were baptized in the waters of Mormon. Blessed are these people who carry my name, for they are mine.

You will judge anyone who sins against me. If they confess their sins and repent, you will forgive them. Yes, as often as my people repent, I will forgive them. But those who will not repent will not be members of my church.

After Alma heard these words, he went and judged those who sinned against God. Those who repented were kept in the church. Those that would not confess their sins and repent were no longer members of the church and their names were erased.

Alma and his fellow teachers suffered all kinds of trouble from those who were not of the church of God. But they still gave thanks to God in all things.
