Mosiah 12

Two years later, the Lord said to Abinadi: Go tell my people they have not repented. Stretch out your hand and tell them: The Lord says you will become slaves to your enemies. You will be driven and killed. The vultures of the air and the dogs and the wild beasts will eat your bodies. The life of King Noah will be like a robe in a hot furnace. Then he will know I am the Lord.

I, the Lord, will make this hard-hearted people howl all day long. They will be treated and driven like stupid donkeys. I will send hail on them to punish and kill them. I will send insects to bite them and eat their grain. I will do this because of their sins.

Abinadi said many things that the people did not want to hear. They tied him and took him to the king. They said: We have brought a man who has said evil things about your people. He says God will destroy us.

He also says that your life will be like a robe in a furnace of fire. He says you will be like a thorny weed trampled down by animals and blown away by the wind. He says all this will happen to you if you do not repent. And he pretends God has said it. O king, you have not sinned. We are strong. How can we be slaves? This man has lied about you. We give him to you to punish.

Then the king and his priests began to question Abinadi to trick him. But he answered them boldly and confused them in their words. Abinadi said to them: Are you really priests? You only pretend to teach this people. I say you are abusing the words of the Lord! If you understood them, you have not taught them.

Why do you put your hearts on riches? Why do you commit sins by being untrue to your wives? You know that I speak the truth and you should tremble before God. You will soon be punished for your sins.
