King Benjamin had three sons: Mosiah, Helorum and Helaman. They were taught well. King Benjamin said to his sons: Without these plates, we would not know the words of God and we would suffer in ignorance.
My sons, if we did not have the words of God always before our eyes, we would shrink in unbelief and become like the Lamanites, who know nothing about these things. O my sons, these scriptures are true. Remember to search them well. Keep the commandments of God.
King Benjamin grew old. He brought Mosiah before him and said to him: My son, tell the people to gather together. Tomorrow I will tell them that you are their new king. Mosiah told the people to go to the temple to hear the words of his father.
