In the forty-sixth, there was trouble and many arguments. Many people left Zarahemla and went to the north land. They traveled far until they came to large lakes and many rivers. They spread in all parts of the land that had trees.
There were few trees on some parts of the land. The people became skilled at building their houses with cement.
The people began to cover the whole land, from the sea south to the sea north, from the sea west to the sea east. The people in the north lived in tents and houses of cement.
They allowed all the trees to grow up, so they would have trees to build their houses and cities, temples and all kinds of buildings.
Because trees were few in the land northward, much lumber was shipped there. This helped the people in the north build many cities, both of wood and cement.
There was trouble in the south. Helaman kept the laws of the people and the commandments of God, so he was blessed by God. Helaman had two sons, Nephi and Lehi.
There was peace in the land and great growth in the Church; thousands were baptized, even tens of thousands. God poured out amazing blessings beyond belief.
We see the Lord is merciful to all who will, in sincerity of their hearts, call upon His holy name. Yes, the gate of heaven is open to all who will believe on the name of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Those who grab on to God’s powerful word are in the strait and narrow way that will bring them in the kingdom of heaven.
In the fifty-first year, some pride was in the Church. But the more humble part of the Church fasted and prayed often. They grew stronger and stronger in their humility and firmer and firmer in the faith of Christ. They gave their hearts to God. Their souls were filled with joy and comfort.
Helaman died and his son Nephi began to rule.
