Ether 2

They took flocks, birds, fish in barrels and all kinds of seeds. They carried deseret, which means honeybee.

When they came into the north valley, the Lord came down and talked with Moriancumer. The Lord was in a cloud, so Moriancumer could not see him. The Lord told him to take his people into a part of the wilderness where people had never been before.

They walked in the wilderness until the Lord brought them to a great sea. They lived there in tents on the seashore for four years.

One day the Lord came standing in a cloud and talked for three hours with Moriancumer and scolded him because he had not been praying.

Moriancumer repented and prayed to the Lord for his people. The Lord said to him: I will forgive you and your brothers of their sins, but do not sin any more. My Spirit will not always stay with man. If you keep sinning, you will be cut off from me.

The Lord said He would guide them to a great land [America] that is better than all other lands. God had saved this land for a special people.

The Lord told Moriancumer that whoever lived in this land must serve only God, or they would be wiped off the land. It is a choice land and the nation that holds it will be free from all other nations if they will serve Jesus Christ.

The Lord told Moriancumer to build special boats. They were small and light, like a bird sitting on the water. They were built tight like a dish. The ends were peaked and the tops were tight. They were as long as a tree. The doors were tight and there were no windows.

Moriancumer prayed to the Lord, saying: O Lord, we have made eight boats as you explained, but they are so tight there is no light in them. There will be no fresh air to breathe. There is no way to steer.

The Lord said to him: Make a hole in the top and also in the bottom. When you need air, unplug the hole. If water comes in, plug up the hole and use the other hole to get air.

You cannot have windows. They would break in pieces. You cannot take fire with you. You will be like a whale in the sea. The mountain waves will blast on your boats. But I will bring you up from under the sea.

You will not need to steer. I will send winds to blow you where you should go. Your boats will be strong and tight against the waves and winds. What do you want me to do so you will have light when you are under the sea?
