When Coriantumr came back to the war, he was cut deeply many times. Nearly two million of his people had been killed by the sword. Coriantumr began to be sad in his heart. He began to repent, but his soul refused to feel better.
He wrote a letter to Shiz saying that if Shiz would spare the people, Coriantumr would give his kingdom to Shiz. Shiz wrote back saying he would spare the people if he would let Shiz kill him with Coriantumr’s own sword.
Instead, they chose to keep fighting. Because he lost so much blood, he fainted to the ground. When he woke up, he remembered the words Ether had said to him. Coriantumr was wounded again and fainted with loss of blood. Coriantumr had his army pitch their tents by the hill Ramah.
Ramah was that same hill that the Nephites later called Cumorah. It was the same hill where the Nephites would later camp before they were killed.
Coriantumr called all the people who were still alive to the hill Ramah. They gathered for four years to get strength for the coming battle. Ether had been watching and writing all the doings of the people.
At last, they all gathered together. All the men, all the women and the children were armed with weapons. They marched to war against each other.
They fought all day until they were too tired to kill each other. When it was night, they went back to their camps and howled and cried all night.
The next day they fought again. When the night came, they filled the air again with their sad cries and howls for their lost ones. The devil had full power over their hearts. They were drunk with anger.
The next morning, they fought all day, and the next day. Only fifty-two of Coriantumr’s people were alive and sixty-nine of Shiz’s people.
They slept on their swords that night and fought again the next day. When the night came, there were thirty-two people of Shiz and twenty-seven of Coriantumr.
That night they ate and slept and prepared for death.
The next day they fought for three hours. Finally, all were dead except Shiz and Coriantumr.
Shiz arose and yelled in madness that he would kill Coriantumr with his sword or die himself. Coriantumr was leaning on his sword to rest. He fought back and cut off Shiz’s head.
Coriantumr now stood alone. All the people had killed each other. He saw that all the words of the Lord had come true. Then Coriantumr fainted and died.
These are the last words written on Ether’s record: If the Lord takes me up to Him now, or if He lets me live on alone, it does not matter as long as I am saved in His kingdom. Amen.
