Alma 53

The people of Ammon promised God they would not fight wars again. But they saw the danger and hardships the Nephites suffered for them.

They talked about taking up weapons again. As they were about to make weapons, Helaman convinced them to not break the promise they made to God .

The people of Ammon did have many sons. These sons had not made a promise not to fight. So these young men gathered to help the Nephite soldiers. There were two thousand of these young men who took their weapons to defend their country.

They were all brave. They were young men who were true at all times to God. They were taught to keep God’s commandments. Helaman marched at the head of his two thousand stripling (thin) soldiers.
