Alma 16

In the eleventh year, the cry of war came on the city of Ammonihah. The armies of the Lamanites began to kill the people and destroy the city. Before the Nephites could gather an army, the wicked people of Ammonihah were destroyed. Yes, every living soul of the Ammonihahites was killed. Their great city, which they said was too great for God to destroy, was left empty in one day.

Dogs and wild beasts ate their bodies. After many days, their dead bodies were piled up and covered with dirt. The smell was so bad that no one was willing to live in Ammonihah for many years.

For the next three years, the people of Nephi had peace in all the land. Alma and Amulek preached in the temples and churches, which were built like Jewish churches.

Church members spread throughout the land of the Nephites. Everyone was fair with each other, so the Lord poured out His Spirit on all. The Spirit prepared their minds and hearts to hear God’s word with joy.

They learned the Lord would show himself to them after His resurrection. This gave the people great joy.
