3 Nephi 28

Jesus said to His twelve disciples: Do you want anything from me? Nine of them said: After we finish our missions and lives, we want to come quickly to you in your kingdom.

Jesus answered: You are blessed because you want this thing from me. I promise you, after you are seventy two years old, you will come to me in my kingdom. You will find peace and rest with me.

Jesus then turned to the other three disciples and asked them: What do you want?

They were sad in their hearts, for they did not dare tell Jesus what they wanted. Then he said to them: I know your thoughts. You want the same thing that John, my beloved apostle, wanted from me. You want to live and preach until I return to the earth. You are even more blessed. You will live to see all God’s works to the children of men. You will never suffer the pains of death. You will live on earth with no pain or sorrow.

I do this because you want to bring souls to me while this world still stands. For this reason, you will have a fullness of joy. Yes, your joy will be full and you will be like me. I am like the Father and the Father and I are one. The Father sends the Holy Ghost to teach people of the Father and me.

After Jesus spoke these words, He touched the nine disciples with His finger and then He left. The other three disciples were taken away. I, Mormon, was going to write the names of the three disciples who would never taste death, but the Lord stopped me. They are now hidden from the world. I have seen them and they have blessed me.

They will go to the Gentiles and the Gentiles will not know them. They will go among the Jews and the Jews will not know them. They are like angels of God. If they pray to the Father in the name of Jesus, they can show themselves to anyone they choose. They will do great and wonderful things among the Gentiles.

Christ’s nine disciples went across the land blessing all the people, baptizing all who believe. Those who were baptized were given the Holy Ghost.

Those who did not belong to the church put the disciples into prison, but the prison walls broke apart. Three times the disciples were thrown into a furnace of fire, but they were not hurt. Twice they were thrown into a den of wild beasts, but they just played with the beasts like children playing with little lambs.

Woe to those who will not listen to the words of Jesus and to His chosen servants. People who do not receive the words of Jesus and His chosen servants will not be received by Jesus at the last day. It would be better for them if they had not been born.
