2 Nephi 28

The things written in the book will be of great worth to all people and especially to our people [the Indians]. In the last days there will be many churches, but not to the Lord.

Some will say: I am the Lord’s church. Others will say: I am the Lord’s church. They will argue with each other. Their priests will argue with each other. They will teach their own learning and reject the Holy Ghost.

There will be many who say: Eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow we die and it will turn out fine. There will be many who say: Eat, drink and be merry, but fear God.

They say: God will allow a little sin. Lie a little; take advantage of others because of their words; dig a pit for your neighbor to fall in. There is no harm in this. Do all these things, for tomorrow we die. If we are guilty, God will beat us with a few stripes, but in the end he will bring us in his kingdom.

Many people will teach such false and foolish ideas. Many will puff up and try to hide their thoughts from God.

Their churches will be rotten. They will rob the poor to get fancy churches. They will rob the poor to buy fancy clothes. They hurt the meek and the poor in heart, because they puff up in pride. They wear stiff necks and high heads.

They have all gone wrong except a few humble followers of Christ. Even those are led, in many cases, to do wrong because they are taught wrong ideas.

Trouble will come to all who treat the things of God like trash! The day will come when God will speedily visit the people of the earth. When they are fully ripe in sin, they will die. But if they repent, they will live.

The kingdom of the devil will shake. Those who belong to it must be stirred up to repent, or the devil will tie them with his chains and pull them down. In the last days, Satan will fill the hearts of many people and make them hate good things.

Satan will trick many by telling them that there is no hell. He tricks others by giving them false comfort. He wants them to think that everything is fine, so they will say: All is well in Zion. All is well. In this way, the devil cheats their souls and leads them carefully down to hell.

Trouble will come to those who are sleepy in Zion! And to those who say: All is well! Those who listen to the ideas of men and put aside the power of God and the gift of the Holy Ghost must beware!

Trouble will come to all who say: We have enough and we need no more! Trouble will come to all who say: We have the word of God and we need no more!

God says: I will give people knowledge line on line, idea on idea, here a little and there a little. Blessed are those who listen to My teachings for they will learn wisdom. Those who accept My word will be given more. Those who say they have enough will lose what they have.
