“Didn’t the prophet Isaiah speak of the Messiah?” Abinadi asked, quoting Isaiah.
Chapter 14 of the Book of Mosiah is virtually indistinguishable, word for word, and verse for verse, from Chapter 53 of Isaiah from the Old Testament.
Isaiah talks about the burdens the Messiah will have to endure because of the sinful nature of God’s children. He predicts that the Messiah will be rejected, imprisoned, tried, and executed, even though he will do nothing wrong. He foretells that it is God’s plan to send someone who will bear the sins of mankind.
