Mormon 9

Now I speak to those who don’t believe in Jesus Christ. Will you believe on judgment day when God comes and rolls the earth up like a scroll in his fingers? When the earth melts and you are brought to stand before Jesus Christ will you still say there is no God? Will you deny Jesus Christ when you stand in front of him? Do you think you can stand there then with a guilty conscience? Do you imagine that you can happily live with God when your soul is racked with guilt for having abused his laws?

No, you would be even more miserable living with a holy and just God under the shadow of your guilt and filth, than you would be to live with the other damned souls in hell. When you are brought to stand naked before the holy glory of God and Jesus Christ, an unstoppable fire will burn your body. So instead, turn to God you unbelievers, and cry out to him in the name of Jesus Christ so that you might be found spotless, pure, fair, and white after being cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ on that last great day of judgment.

I speak now to those of you who deny the revelations of God, who say such things have passed, who say that there are no more revelations, prophecies, miracles, healings, speaking in tongues, or interpretation of ancient languages. I say that if you deny these things, you don’t know and understand the scriptures or the gospel of Jesus Christ. Don’t the scriptures say that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever without change? If you imagine that God is a changing being, you have imagined a God that is not a God of miracles.

Let me show you a God of miracles. The God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Israel is the same God who created heaven and earth and all things within them. He created Adam, and through Adam came the fall of mankind. Because of that fall of mankind Jesus Christ has come to redeem us. Because of this redemption of mankind through Jesus Christ men are brought back into the presence of God. Because of Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection men are redeemed from an endless sleep and awakened by the power of God.

When the trumpet sounds everyone will come forward. The great and the humble alike will stand before God’s judgment and be released from death. Those who have lived their lives in filthiness, righteousness, happiness or unhappiness will live forever, respectively, in filthiness, righteousness, happiness and unhappiness.

If you imagine a God without miracles, I ask you to think about whether or not these things I’ve spoken of have happened yet? Has judgment day come yet? No. But look around you and notice that God has not quit being a God of miracles. Aren’t God’s creations amazing things to see? How can we even comprehend the enormity of God’s creations? Who can possibly say that a miracle hasn’t happened in the creation of heaven and earth, or by the creation of mankind from dust, just by the word of God? Who can say that Jesus Christ didn’t perform many mighty miracles, or that miracles didn’t come through the hands of his disciples? If miracles were performed then, how can God quit being a God of miracles and also remain as an unchangeable being? I say that God hasn’t changed. If he changed, he would no longer be God. I say that he is a God of miracles.

Miracles are not happening among men now because men’s belief in God has faded, because they’ve lost their way, and don’t remember to trust in God. Whoever believes in Jesus Christ without doubt, and asks for anything from God in his name, will find that it is granted to him. This is his promise to everyone until the end of the earth.

This is what Jesus Christ said to his disciples in front of all the Nephites, “Go out into the world and preach my gospel to every living creature. Those who believe and are baptized will be saved. Those who don’t believe will be damned. If you truly believe in me you can cast out devils in my name, speak in new languages, handle deadly snakes, drink poison without harm, and heal the sick by the laying on of your hands. Whoever believes in my name and doubts nothing will find my words confirmed until the end of the earth.”

I ask, who can stand up against the works of God? Who can deny what he says? Who will oppose the almighty power of God? Who will condemn his works? Who will hate the children of Jesus Christ? I say that any of you who condemn, doubt, or oppose God will perish. So don’t condemn or doubt God, but listen to what he says. When you are in need of things, ask God for them in the name of Jesus Christ. Believe in God with all your heart and work out your own salvation in fear, before him. Be wise. Strip away your filthiness, and don’t give in to lust. If you don’t yield to temptation you will be serving the true and living God. Don’t be baptized or take the sacrament if you are unworthy of it. Be worthy of these things, and do them in the name of Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God. If you do this until the end of your life you will not be cast out.

I speak to you now as if I were speaking from the grave because I know that you will receive my words. Don’t criticize the imperfections of my father or me, but give thanks to God that he has shown you our imperfections so that you will be more wise than we have been.

We have written this record in the language that we know of as “reformed Egyptian,” handed down to us and altered in accordance with our spoken tongue. If our plates had been large enough we might have written this record in our altered form of the Hebrew language instead. If we had been able to do that, there would have been no imperfections in our record. But God knows what we’ve written and also that no one except us knows our language. So he has prepared for you a means by which our record can be interpreted.

We have written all of this down to cleanse ourselves from the blood of our people who have faltered in their belief. We write these things so that the descendants of our people will receive a restoration of our knowledge of Jesus Christ, and in answer to the prayers from all of the saints who have lived before us in this land. May Jesus Christ grant that their prayers are answered according to the saints’ faith. May God the Father remember the promises he has made with the family of Israel and bless them forever.
