“Now, I want to speak to those of you whose hearts are pure. If you look steadily to God and pray with faith, he will console you in your trials and send justice to those who torment you. Because of your purity, you may feast on his love forever.
“Those among you who are filthy before God will find that the land is cursed because of you, and a time will quickly come when you will be destroyed by the Lamanites. When that time comes, only the righteous among you will be saved by God. While the Lamanites, whom you hate, are cursed and their skins have been turned to the color of filth, they have not forgotten the commandment to keep but one wife and to have no mistresses. In this regard, you are filthier than they are. Because of this observance, God shows them mercy and they will one day become a blessed people. If you look at them, you will see that their husbands and wives love each other, and that they also love their children. Their hatred for you arises from their fathers’ mistakes, not their own. How can you think that you are much better than them in the eyes of God? Oh, brothers, I am afraid that unless you repent your sins and fornications, that their skins will be whiter than yours when you approach the kingdom of God.
“I command you to abandon your hatred of the Lamanites because of their skin color and filthiness, and remember that their filthiness is inherited from their fathers. Look to yourselves, now, and ask whether you also want to have your children cursed for your sins and the sorry example you set for them, just as the Lamanites are cursed for their fathers’ sins? Do you want your children destroyed for your filthiness and the responsibility for their destruction laid on your heads on the day of judgment? Oh, brothers, awaken yourselves from the sleep of death and listen to my words. Release yourselves from the embrace of the devil so that you are not cast down into the eternal death of hell.”
