By the laying on of his hands, Alma ordained priests and elders to watch over the church. Those who did not belong to the church and wanted to repent were baptized and received into the church. Those church members who did not repent were rejected from the church, and their names were erased so that they would not be confused with the righteous. Everyone had an opportunity to join the church and receive the word of God.
The followers of God were commanded to gather to fast, and pray often, for the welfare of those who didn’t know God. After setting forth these instructions and rules, Alma moved on to other cities, delivering his message and restoring the church of God in other places. [83 BC]
