2 Nephi 26

I have seen many future generations of our people come and go, bringing with them great wars and conflicts. I have seen that after Jesus Christ has arisen from the dead in Jerusalem, he will come to this land and show himself to a future generation of our descendants. When this Messiah, Jesus Christ, is born into the world there will be signs given to my people of his birth, his death, and his resurrection. This will be a mighty time of reckoning. The wicked among my people will die as punishment for having disregarded, abused, and killed the prophets and saints among them. They will die by fire, be swallowed by the earth, buried in landslides, blown away by great storms, and crushed by falling buildings.

I am nearly consumed with sorrow and pain for the destruction of these people, but I also know that God’s ways are just. I also see that those who listen to the prophets and look forward to the arrival of Jesus Christ will not perish, because he will heal them. The descendants of those who are healed will have peace for three generations, but four generations after the appearance of Jesus Christ my people will have again forgotten God’s spirit and his will. After yielding to the dark works of the devil, through their pride and foolishness, they will be punished with destruction and sent to hell. This I have seen, and it grieves my soul.

Just as the Jews need to be convinced that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, so too do the Gentiles need to learn this. In his own way Jesus Christ will come to every nation and all people, working miracles and giving signs according to their faith.

Listen, this is my prophecy. During the last days, our descendants will have dwindled from disbelief, and the descendants of the Lamanites will be oppressed, overrun, and killed by the Gentiles who will come to this land. This will happen because of their failure to remember and believe in the word of God and the words of Jesus Christ. Even after these people have been brought low and humbled, the prayers and history of their faithful ancestors will not be forgotten. God will help them to be heard. As if whispering from the ground, a book concerning our people will be written, sealed, buried, and hidden so that our story here is not destroyed and lost.

The proud and self righteous Gentiles that come to this new land will subdue the remaining descendents of our family of Israel that have come with us from Jerusalem. They will compete with one another to build many churches and faiths that fail to faithfully promote the miracles and power of God. They will build churches that promote their own special interests at the cost of the poor, causing envy, strife, and ill will. There will be secret conspiracies with the devil, who seeks to bind their souls to him and lead them astray.

But listen, my people; God does not work in darkness. He loves the world and only seeks to help it by laying down his own life and offering salvation for all. He asks that everyone join him in salvation and repentance.

God prohibits his people from priestcrafts in which men seek personal fortune and fame over the welfare of Zion. God commands that all men have the charity of love. Without that, they are nothing. People who labor for Zion will not perish, while those who labor for money will die. Further, God commands that men should not murder or lie, not steal or curse, not harbor envy or ill will, not fight with one another or fornicate. Those who do so will perish. God will remember and embrace all who come to him to receive his goodness, whether they are black or white, free men or slaves, men or women, heathens, Jews, or Gentiles.
