Mosiah 22

Ammon and the king gathered all the people together to find ideas on how to become free. But they could not think of a plan that would work.

Gideon said to the king: Remember the back gate at the back of the city. The Lamanites guards there are drunk every night. I will go there and pay the last tax of wine to them. When they are drunk and asleep, we will pass through. We can then leave with our women and our children and our flocks and herds into the wilderness.

King Limhi gathered his people together and sent plenty of wine to the Lamanite guards. When the guards were drunk and asleep, Limhi’s people sneaked by night into the wilderness with their flocks and their herds. Ammon guided them into the wilderness towards the land of Zarahemla.

When the Lamanites learned that the people of Limhi had gone, they sent an army to bring them back. After two days, the army could not follow their tracks.

After many days, Ammon and the people of Limhi came to Zarahemla. They joined Mosiah’s people. Mosiah welcomed them with joy. He also received their records and the records of the unknown people [Jaredites] that had been found in the wilderness.
