Mosiah 17

When Abinadi finished, the king told the priests to take him and put him to death. There was a young priest there whose name was Alma. He believed the words of Abinadi. He begged the king to not be angry with Abinadi and allow him to leave in peace. Then the king was even more angry. He had Alma thrown out and sent his servants to kill him. Alma ran and hid. While he was hiding, he wrote what Abinadi had said.

The king said: Abinadi, we have found a crime against you and you must die. You have said that God Himself should come down and put us to death. But if you will take back all your words, I will let you live.

Abinadi said: I will not take back my words for they are true. I have allowed myself to be captured so you can kill me. Then my words and my blood will stand against you.

King Noah was afraid of Abinadi and was about to release him. But the priests shouted against Abinadi and began to say: O king, this man has insulted you. The priests got the king mad again so he would have Abinadi killed.

They took Abinadi, tied him and burned his skin with hot fire. When the flames began to hurt him, Abinadi cried out to them: Just as you have done this to me, so will some of your people suffer death by fire. In the future, some of your people will believe in the Lord and you will burn them as you burn me. And you will have killed your own people.

Those of you who will not believe will be punished with all kinds of diseases. You will be punished on every hand and scattered like a wild flock runs from savage beasts. You will be hunted and you will suffer, as I suffer, the pains of death by fire. For God will destroy those who will not obey.

Then Abinadi said: O God, receive my soul. When Abinadi said these words, he died and sealed the truth of his words with his death.
