3 Nephi 4

In the eighteenth year, the robbers began to come down from their secret places and take the land and cities left by the Nephites. But there were no animals in those lands for the robbers to eat because the Nephites had burned all the land before they left.

The robbers could not live without stealing food. Giddianhi went to war against the Nephites. Terrible was the day they came to battle. The robbers had painted their bodies in blood and dressed with lambskins around the waist. Their heads were shaved and they wore helmets.

The battle was horrible. There was more killing than any battle before. Their leader Giddianhi fought with boldness, but he was killed. At last, the Nephites pushed the robbers out of the land.

In the twenty first year, the robbers tried to surround the Nephites. But the Nephites marched out by day and by night and killed them by thousands and tens of thousands. Many thousands surrendered. The rest were killed.

The Nephites’ hearts were filled with joy. Many cried many tears of gratitude. The people cried out: Hosanna to the Most High God. Blessed be the name of the Lord God Almighty. They knew they had been saved by God because they had repented and were humble.
