2 Nephi 31

I, Nephi, speak to you plainly. The Lord works in plainness among the children of men. For the Lord speaks to them by their language and their understanding.

God sets the example for us and shows us the straightness of the path and the narrowness of the gate by which we must enter. He says: Follow Me. I ask: How can we follow Jesus unless we are willing to keep the commandments of the Father?

The Father said: Repent, repent and be baptized in the name of my Beloved Son. And the voice of the Son came to me, saying: He that is baptized in My name, the Father will give the Holy Ghost. So, follow Me and do the things which you have seen Me do.

Follow the Son with full purpose of heart. Act sincerely with no deception. Repent of your sins. Witness to the Father that you are willing to take on you the name of Christ, by baptism, then you will receive the Holy Ghost.

The gate by which you must enter is repentance and baptism by water. Then comes forgiveness by the Holy Ghost. Then you are in the strait and narrow path which leads to eternal life.

After you are on the strait and narrow path, I ask: Is all done? No. You must move on with faith in Christ, have hope and a love of God and of all men. You must press forward, feast on the words of Christ and endure to the end. Then you will have eternal life.

I heard a voice from the Father, saying: All who continue to the end will be saved. This is the way; and there is no other way or name under heaven to save you in the kingdom of God.
